Doox of Yale

TTBB

Doox of Yale is Yale's first all-gender TTBB a cappella group. Over the past 70 years, Doox has grown from a young quartet into a rambunctious and incredibly close family of more than 400 singers and alumni. In that time, we've become one of the most respected singing groups in the country. We tour domestically and internationally, charming presidents and preschoolers alike, and record an album (roughly) every other year. Today our music ranges far beyond where we started seven decades ago. Our repertoire is thrilling, challenging, and diverse, composed of an exciting mix of old favorites and contemporary hits. Combined with our gifted soloists and the musicality of our shoe, our daring arrangements have won us numerous CARA awards and Voices Only features. In recent years, we released two albums, won six national awards, and were featured on both IN UNISON and NPR. None of us entered the group as perfect musicians. Instead, what we share is a "team good fun attitude" and a collective aspiration to make music that feels good. Alongside our diverse repertoire, our culture of growth produces a fantastically dynamic ensemble that maximizes the strengths of its members.

Doox began as The Duke’s Men, an all-male tenor-baritone-bass singing group at a time when only men were admitted to Yale. Since 2017, we have been proud to welcome all singers regardless of sex, gender identity, or prior voice part identification. In the fall of 2018, The Duke's Men formally adopted a longstanding nickname — "da doox" — to better reflect the gender composition of the group.
