Proof of the Pudding

SSAA

Proof of the Pudding, Yale’s premier SSAA jazz and swing a cappella group, is thrilled to continue its 50th anniversary celebration this year with the recording of a new album. Founded just six years after women were first admitted to Yale in 1975, Proof has spent decades perfecting its craft and expanding its repertoire. From classic jazz standards like “Lullaby of Birdland” and “In the Mood” to modern takes on the genre by artists such as Lorde, Laufey, and Lake Street Dive, the group’s completely self-arranged repertoire showcases its commitment to both timeless and contemporary jazz.

With tight harmonies and intricate arrangements, Proof honors the rich and dynamic history of jazz in every performance. Proof’s recent venues include Feinstein's 54 Below in New York City, Sappho Live Jazz Club in Taipei, the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, and the Boogie Woogie Jazz Club in Seoul.

Last year’s anniversary celebration brought over 70 alumni back to campus to sing, reconnect, and reflect on the incredible sisterhood that has defined Proof for generations.

For 50 years, Proof of the Pudding has proven that when it comes to SSAA jazz groups, the proof really is in the pudding.
